Many of us have received some Word or promise about a number of things in our lives including the very essence of who we are or what we are to do in life, and sometimes we find ourselves at opposing positions and wonder what has happened to the Word of promise. We wonder if heard right or perhaps if God has changed His mind.
Joseph, like many of us, received a word of promise through a dream that He shall rule over his brothers, and that was about it. You see, most times when God gives a promise or destination, He seldom tells you about the pit you will go through, or Portipha’s wife or even the prison. Most of the time, what we get is simple; what point B is.
Like Joseph, we meet a number of walls along the way, so high that we cannot see point B from where we are standing and most of the time that might cause some major discouragement, and cause many to give up.
Let me stop right here at the wall; Imagine you are facing this wall, what tool would you probably use to bring down a wall? Perhaps a hammer will do? “Is not my Word like fire? Like a hammer that breaks the rock into pieces? Says the Lord” –Jeremiah 23:29.
Notice that the very Word of God gives you is the very tool He gave to you to bring down any wall that you may encounter along the way. Walls are different, some fall down the moment you hit them, some might take a while longer, but the truth remains, there will be no progress in getting the wall to fall if you put your hammer down and stop speaking the Word of God about your life.
David says about this “Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope. This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me” Psm 119:49-50. This very Word is a sure thing to hold on to, Peter says about it, “We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts” 2 Pet1:19. [Selah]
When we use a candle at night, we know for sure that we won’t use it forever, because the sun will surely rise. The moment you speak the Word in your situation, you are hitting the wall, the moment you speak the opposite in your situation, you are putting the hammer down. Joseph, still maintained God’s promise even in prison, He still saw himself as someone called by God. He did not know when, just like you cannot see how thick a wall is if you are facing it, if you can see the thickness then you might as well walk around it because it would mean you are standing on the side and not facing it.
God is faithful, if He gives you a Word, you can be sure that He will fulfill it, His Word can NEVER return to Him void. So get going child of God, speak the Word in your life, in your situation, let us not run around speaking negativity like we do not have a faithful God. Let His Word encourage you today.
